Daily Dunk #1: Ethiopian Limu & Dried Cranberries

Daily Dunk (#dailydunk)  is a series where I will be pairing coffee with various treats. This will not be a coffee or food review and will just mention where the coffee is from and the food item I choose to pair with it.  My goal for this series is to help you pick your own pairings for different coffee and develop your pallet. After the educational part, I’ll dunk the morsels into the coffee.

Coffee: Ethiopian Limu

Pairing: Craisins (dried cranberries)

Why Cranberries? Coffee from Ethiopia is known for it’s citrus and berry notes. The lemon in Limu is more toned down than other coffee from Ethiopia, so I wanted to bring out more of the berry tartness.

The Result: The first bite into the Craisin is an unforgettable kiss of dry red wine. The more I sip and chew, the coffee actually tones down the tartness from the cranberries and smooths it out. I was expecting an overpowering wine taste so this was a pleasant surprise.

I highly recommend this pair, especially if you need to eat more cranberries (mainly women) and not too fond of tartness.

QOTD- Have you paired cranberries with this or any other coffee?
