About Your Barista
Jennifer Vaaler is a fellow Barista, coffee connoisseur and freelance writer based in Raleigh, North Carolina. Her passions are coffee and writing so it made sense to combine the two into this site. She has been in the coffee industry since 2003 and has been featured in Coffee Talk – the most influential coffee trade journal in the industry. If only the highest quality matters, you are in the right place.
There is nothing like the aroma of earthy, spicy and chocolaty tones being ground first thing in the morning. Knowing where the beans came from and all the people who were involved in the process from farm to cup, I can’t help but to appreciate that first sip each day.
Experience
After going to school for English, discovering Secrets Of Strategic Copywriting, and working in various independent cafe’s, Jennifer knew she wanted to work within the coffee industry. She has taken the beginner and intermediate espresso classes at Counter Culture Coffee in Durham, NC. She has trained baristas, advised independent cafes with marketing strategies, written newsletters, fliers and web copy. She even tutored English, edited papers for college students, and business material for customers.
